ADVENTURES FROM CALI TO CABO AND BEYOND

7 day mexican riviera cruise from los angeles

Don’t miss out on a local adventure, see what draws travelers to the Yucatan and the Baja Peninsula for vacation. In fact, most of the best things to do in this beautiful region happen outside. And venturing into the wilderness in search of waterfalls just outside Puerto Vallarta. So much outdoor exploring from Ensenada to Cabo to Puerto Vallarta. Let Princess pick you up from the airport and take you directly to your ship or hotel when you arrive, even if you didn't book your airfare through us.

Or opt for a Panama Canal voyage between San Diego and San Juan, Puerto Rico, stopping at Puerto Vallarta as well as the Caribbean islands of Aruba and Curaçao. Finally, a long voyage between Valparaiso, Chile, and Los Angeles will bring you to exciting ports in Peru and Costa Rica as well as Cabo San Lucas. If this is your first time cruising, youlll love this cruise also! The weather is nice year round and the ports all have some amazing excursions to offer. You’ll also have a great view of the cruise ship and several yachts from the beach.

Our exclusive EXC® Talk lecture series features captivating regional stories told by local experts and narrated by your Cruise & Travel Director. In the evenings, Step One Dance Company, vocal sensation Cantaré, BBC Earth in Concert and more take the stage. Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam bring the World Stage experience to the next level by surrounding you in spectacular sight and sound with a two-story, panoramic LED screen.

But I also didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to explore some new destinations on another cruise so I decided to give the Mexican Riviera Cruise a try. And I’m prepared to give you a very honest review of what I thought about it. Revel in white-sand beaches, fun and adventure on a cruise to Cabo. From coffee and salsa to spirits and artisan goods, discover the best things to buy in Mexico cruise ports when you sail with Princess. With a culture as timeless as the scenery, Mazatlan is a jewel in Mexico’s crown. Stroll past the colorful homes and artisan stalls that line the streets.

ALONG THE BAJA COAST

Spend the day catching marlin and tuna in the world-class fishing port of Mazatlan. With excursions for every traveler, see why we’re named one of the best cruises to the Mexican Riviera. Spend an entire day walking along the Malecon, Puerto Vallarta’s beach boardwalk. Shop for regionally crafted goods — like woven baskets or a pair of leather boots — and meet the locals who created them.

Cabo San Lucas is packed with fine restaurants, but you can’t beat the farm-to-table cuisine here—all washed down with an ice-cold margarita. Whether you prefer long stretches of golden sand lined with chic restaurants and bars, or wild, wave-pounded rocks, you’ll find your dream on the Mexican Riviera. Take a day boat to the dramatic El Arco rock arch near Cabo San Lucas. Marvel at the ocean’s power at La Bufadora, Ensenada’s famous rock blowhole. Soak up the Hollywood glamor of Playa de los Muertos in Puerto Vallarta.

I’ve been on several cruises including ones to the Caribbean and Alaska. Exploring new places is always a goal of mine but I also really enjoy cruises. The Mexican Riviera cruise has been on my radar for awhile but for some reason… it just didn’t seem that exciting. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. Many west coast locals will be acclimated to the water, but for the uninitiated, it can feel brisk, particularly outside the summer months. Consider a rash guard or similar coverage if you’re not used to cooler waters.

On a Mexico cruise, wander through the city’s galleries, and sample tequila alongside handmade tortillas and salsa. Or stroll along the seafront Malecon boardwalk – the city’s premier shopping destination — where mementos, margaritas and Mexican buffets await. Located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Cabo is surrounded by clear waters and sun-kissed beaches. As one of the world’s premier resort destinations, it’s the perfect place to relax, recharge and reawaken your passion for adventure. On a Mexico cruise, tour Todos Santos and enjoy lunch at the Hotel California.

Pinnacle Grill is the ultimate steakhouse at sea, where an exceptional menu and impeccable service make for one of finest meals you’ll ever have. Every dish is exquisitely prepared, beautifully plated and complemented by a vast collection of award-winning wines. Here, your meal is an event unto itself, a celebration of fine dining and a triumph of flavor.

Cabo San Lucas can be a very busy place, because its also a really popular vacation deintination in Mexico. So you’ll see a lot of shopping, tons of bars and restaurnts and a very cowded beach area. At Stone Island, you can go horseback riding along the beach, seek adventure on a banana boat ride, or rent a table or lounge chair and even some sand toys. Once we arrived at the private beach, we had a quick lunch (with amazing Mexican food!) and headed out on a horseback ride through the rainforest. When we got off the horses, we walked along some cobbled streets through the cutest little town. And then ended up at a waterfall and swimming hole and did some swimming.

Since we had so much time at this port, we decided to do an excursion right off the boat and then spend time exploring. Mexico didn’t feel like there was much to offer, but after our time there I realized there were so many more things I wish you did that we didn’t have time for. Though tamales are popular throughout central and south America, the ones you’ll find along Mexico’s western coast are unique. These are typically stuffed with pork (called guemes tamales) or chicken (tamales fajados de pollo) along with simmered olives and raisins. One of our unique Panama Canal excursions, the Acapulco cliff divers are a famous sight.
